The church has come and Satan is deadly afraid of her. The church has the authority and responsibility of stopping Satan. Victory is assured. The gates of hell will flee before the church that stands on her authority (Matt. 16:18). We have the authority, while Satan has the power. Power is borrowed and most times counterfeit, but authority is delegated. It is real, genuine and more effective than power. Authority has been delegated to the church.
“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases” (Luke 9:1).
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
“Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt. 18:18).
From these scriptures, we could see that the authority to deal with Satan and his demons has been given and delegated to the church by our Lord Jesus Christ.
The church therefore must not fold her arms and stare at Satan as he destroys things, but must rise up and engage in relentless war against his nefarious activities. The church does not only have the authority, she also has the responsibility to destroy the kingdom of Satan and loose people to serve and glorify God. The church must therefore rise up in offensive prayer and word, and do serious warfare to destroy the works of the devil in the life of men. This was the reason Jesus came to the world.
“….for this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).
The same purpose the church was founded in the world. The church is here to destroy the works of the devil
wherever they are found. It’s time to start manifesting in this realm more than ever before.
Amazingly, if the church fails to destroy the works of the devil, God will not do it either. Since He has delegated the responsibility to the church, He will not take it over again. If the church therefore fails to use her God-given authority against the devil and his cohorts, then he is going to have a swell time damaging the world and the lives of men and women.
Kenneth Hagin Snr. told the story how the Lord Jesus appeared to him in a vision. While the Lord was talking with him, a certain demon came around and was disturbing him from hearing what the Lord was saying to him. He waited for the Lord to send the demon away, but the Lord just kept talking, out of annoyance, he decided to cast out the demon.
After he had dealt with the demon he began to hear the Lord clearly. At the end he asked the Lord why He did not cast out the demon even though He knew that he was no longer hearing Him. The Lord replied that He has given him the authority to cast demons out and if he had not done it, He will not do it for him. That is a mighty lesson for the church. The devil is doing all evil today because the church is not using her God-given authority to stop him and his cohorts.
In my next write up, I will discuss the three truths – “SIT, WALK and STAND,” set forth by Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesian church. These three truths are crucial to our victory over the forces of evil and darkness.
