Read First Samuel 30:1-22 from your Bible
In what way has the devil held you or your substance hostage or in captivity? Are you childless because the devil has seized your divine packages, which contain your children?
Then, take the battle to the realm of the spirit. Doctors may not be able to help you here. The battle of childlessness that is raging against you is beyond the realm of the medical science. In the same vein, the business acumen you possess would produce no meaningful results if territorial spirits have held your business prospects hostage in the realm of the spirit. These and other situations will only change when you carry the battle to the territory of the enemy and overcome in spiritual warfare.
David’s experience paints the picture of many believers whose territories have been invaded by the enemy “in their absence”, or while absent-minded and pursuing other businesses.
Perhaps the enemy has come in stealthily and has stolen your blessings, and made away with your valuables because you were not watching, or because you were ignorant of his devices.
If your marriage, business, finances, or health have been invaded and razed down by the enemy, you should not resort to blaming somebody for your calamity. Shifting blames will not bring back what the enemy has stolen. What you need is solution how to recover what you have lost.
What David did was to consult God, who told him to pursue, overtake and recover all that the enemy has stolen. Until he discovered the enemy’s location he could not recover his possessions and that of his followers. But not all that started with him continued with him to the end.
David started the journey with six hundred soldiers, but after three days, two hundred of them withdrew at the brook of Besor. These two hundred soldiers started the journey but dropped out of the warfare and the race to recover what belonged to them. They did not make it to the point of recovery; the point of breakthrough.
A lot of people generally start to pursue the enemy, but only very few ever get to the place where the action takes place and where the breakthrough is obtained in the enemy’s camp.
David’s two hundred soldiers got easily tired and fed up, and retired at the brook of Besor.
Friend, the fresh water of the brook of Besor is not the answer to your needs. The brook is there to attract you and consequently rob you of your success in spiritual warfare. There are things that may want to distract and divert your attention from your goal. You must not allow any of them to blur your vision, and to abort your destiny.
Distraction and diversion is another kind of arrow in the devil’s quiver. If you allow distraction in your pursuit of the thief, your progress will either be delayed or stopped completely.
The devil may allow you to commence spiritual warfare, but you can be sure that he will surely try to stop you by introducing distractions in every step you take. He knows that if he can stop you, he can succeed in consolidating his victory over your life. So watch out for distractions and diversions, and avoid them.
God does not thrust His children into battle without standing by them, providing for them, and strengthening the hands of his commissioned soldiers. Since God Himself “is a man of war” (Exodus 15:3), He knows every part of the battle arena. If he is the one that has called you into warfare, He will also arrange divine assistance for you whenever the need arises.
shalom!
