THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT OBEDIENCE 2 – It must be done cheerfully

God is not a Taskmaster; never see His instruction as a burden. Never make this religious statement: “I have a burden in my heart to do something for the Lord.” It is not a correct scriptural language because the things of God are not burdensome. Instead, you can say, “I am stirred up in my spirit to do something for God.” A burden is a problem or a yoke.

Read Isaiah 10:27 from your Bible

God cannot give you a burden, rather He takes it away. Just be cheerful in obeying God because anytime He gives you an instruction, He has a blessing in mind for you. Anytime God wants you to give Him a thing, He has something bigger to give you in return. He takes it from you, multiplies it, and gives it back to you. Do not attach so much importance to material things. If God ever tells you to give anything give it out and see what will happen.

Read Romans 7:22 from your Bible

It takes a cheerful heart to obey divine instructions. Do not see God’s instruction as a burden, else it will be difficult for you to obey. God’s commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3). God will not tell you something that you cannot do; anything He says, do it.

There should be joy on your inside when you are obeying God, and you will be blessed. Every instruction from God is to polish you, not to punish you. Some people even grumble and murmur in the place of obedience.

Read Philippians 2:14 from your Bible

Murmuring makes you look like a farmer who planted his seed, and immediately went back to uproot it when it has not germinated. He will certainly have no harvest. Murmuring is uprooting what you have planted by yourself without harvesting.

You cannot obey cheerfully if you are not dead to material things. You can only be cheerful in obedience when you are dead to material things. Some people are so attached to material things that when God tells them to do something, you see them frown. Why attach importance to material things? I am dead to material things, there is nothing I cannot give to God;

I do not have “value” for any material thing.

We will all leave this world with nothing. You cannot give cheerfully, if you are someone that gives so much value to material things.

There are people who can never part with what they have. I have people around me who cannot give out what they have but just believe in collecting from others. There is nothing I cannot give out; I mean, nothing on earth, because I am absolutely dead to material things.

When you have what to give out and cannot render help to those in need of that which you have, then your love for God is fake. It simply means that you are not born again. Your Christianity should reflect in your lifestyle of giving cheerfully. Your family, relatives, friends and brethren of same faith should be able to attest anywhere that you are truly a giver. Be compassionately willing to help those in need if you must enjoy God’s blessings.

Some people are so tight-fisted that even their parents and siblings do not benefit anything from them, irrespective of how God has blessed them. Sometimes, in order not to be termed a hardened person, they would want to give trash – what they see as valueless, and are willing to do away with. They, rather obey their instincts than obey God’s voice when it comes to giving.

If God has blessed you to give a genuine person accommodation, do it. If you have clothes, shoes, foods, and so on, please help out. In doing so, you attract God’s hand in your favor. People who work with me know how I give, and I do not lack. I did not listen to too much preaching about giving before I started giving.

Say this prayer as you are reading this write up, “Lord, I want to behave like Jesus, who was obedient unto death. Let Your nature rob on me that, anytime You instruct me I will not hesitate to do it in Jesus name”.

Do not obey once and stop, because if obedience must produce then it has to be done continually. Some people obey, and after a while, they stop, and that stops the flow of all round blessings.

When you hear God saying “give,” do not bind and cast out the voice; just obey because the devil will never ask you to give.

There is power in obedience; I obeyed at every point even when I had no money. God said to, “give me all in your bank account,” I obeyed, and as I kept obeying, I kept going up.

The stingy nature is a demonic nature. Teach your children from childhood that God loves to give, and they should also give because it is the nature of God. When the child grow up he will be used to giving to people.

Say, “Lord, let Your nature of giving enter me promptly, that I will not delay in obeying You anymore in Jesus name, Amen!”
