WHAT IS FASTING?

Since we’re in a fasting mood, let’s explore fasting.
Fasting is not hunger for hunger’s sake. It is not suffering to impress God. It is not a spiritual hunger strike to force heaven to respond.

Biblically, fasting is the intentional withdrawal from food to heighten spiritual sensitivity and realign the soul under God’s authority.

Fasting is the language of surrender. It is the body stepping back so the spirit can come forward. When you fast, you are not denying yourself to get God’s attention. You are denying the flesh to regain spiritual order.

Scripture never presents fasting as a tool to manipulate God. God is not moved by hunger. He is moved by humility and alignment.

“Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens…”
Isaiah 58:6

Fasting is chosen by God before it is chosen by man.
