BATTLE AGAINST POVERTY 1 - BORROWING AND INDEBTEDNESS

BATTLE AGAINST POVERTY 1 – BORROWING AND INDEBTEDNESS

Deuteronomy 28:12 says:

“The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.”

The battle against poverty is also the battle against “borrowing” and “indebtedness.” Until one is free from borrowing and debt, he/she is not yet free from the battle against poverty. This is a battle that everyone must endeavor to win. Until you are completely free from being indebted to any man or institution, you are not completely free. “The borrower is servant to the lender” (Proverbs 22:7). Borrowing and indebtedness subjects one to slavery. It is the spirit of servitude. And God does not want us to remain under this yoke.

Christ has delivered us from this bondage. Hence, we must stand on the finished work of Christ to claim our victory.

shalom!
