Idol worship is the bane of the human race. God hates idolatry with perfect hatred.
Read Exodus 20:5 from your Bible
God has made heavy and grievous pronouncements against all idol worshippers and their generations. Unfortunately, idol worship is still entrenched in the communal life of many people. This is the reason we have to take the gospel to the nooks and crannies of the world.
Idol worship has been dressed in a modern garb. In some parts of the world, air conditioned shrines are being built for idols. Many people are still living in the seveenth century.
Since our forefathers have been worshiping idols, tell me what benefits have we derived? Nothing. Instead, we have continued to reap a harvest of bondage, slavery, untimely death, backwardness, failure at the edge of miracles, financial embarrassment and retrogression.
I pity those who are advocating for the return of the idolatrous practices of the past. Such people have labelled Christianity as the white-man’s religion. They go about deceiving people by advocating for the return to the religion of our forefathers. These people live in air-conditioned houses. I wonder how many of them would agree to drink from worm-infested streams and live in mud houses with roofs made of thatched leaves.
Such people have been blindly deceived to go back to the practices of their forefathers.
Idolatry will always lead men and women into bondage, even if it is practised with the refinement of modernity.
The Good news!
Jesus has delivered us from the power of foundational idolatry through his death, burial, and resurrection (Col. 2:15). All we need to do is to appropriate our victory in Christ by faith, using the three witnesses, the Spirit, the water and the blood (1 John 5:8).
shalom!
