HOW YOU CAN GROW IN GRACE 3 – Be Diligent

One other important way you can grow in the grace of God in your life, is through diligence.

The word ‘diligence’ means hard work. It means showing steady effort in whatever one is doing.

A life of diligence attracts the grace of God more easily. You hardly see a lazy man manifest God’s grace. The grace of God and hard work go hand in hand; they are inseparable.

Read 1 Corinthians 15:10 from your Bible

In the above scripture, Paul made it very clear that the grace of God is not for the slothful; it is for the diligent, God’s grace enables you to labour more than you ever could, naturally; it divinely enables you to go beyond the realm of the natural, to that of the supernatural. It energizes you to do the impossible.

Paul said the grace of God was bestowed upon him, but he laboured more abundantly. It, therefore, means that God’s grace enables you to labour abundantly, with ease.

If you are a slothful man, the grace of God upon you would be in vain; but God forbid!

God’s grace when active in your life gives you a divine enabling and it is to be worked with. Don’t waste God’s grace. Be diligent with it and you will be amazed at the level of God’s investment upon your life.

I want you to recall again at this point the account of Noah’s life in Genesis 6 and 7.

Read Genesis 6:13-16 from your Bible

So, the ark had three storeys. For that to have been done, diligence, steady effort and hard work among others were demonstrated.

Clearly, no slothful man could have successfully carried out that kind of assignment. Yet,

“… Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.” (Genesis 7:5).

Noah demonstrated a life of diligence. Even at old age, diligence is required of you to make the grace of God work in your direction. The Scripture says:

“Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.” (Genesis 7:6)

So, even at old age, Noah was diligent! No wonder, the grace of God was made manifest in his life.

For the same grace to be active in your own life as well, you must be diligent. God’s grace will be dormant and inactive in a lazy man’s life.

Diligence will give God’s grace full expression in your life. Be a little more diligent and God’s grace will be activated the more in your life.

Shalom!
