1.You Use Scripture To Win Arguments Instead Of To Reveal Christ
John 5:39 KJV – Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Some believers use Bible verses mainly to prove others wrong, attack people, or appear spiritually superior. They know texts but miss the spirit behind them.
Child of God, scripture was given to reveal God, transform lives, and bring men closer to truth. The Pharisees studied scripture daily yet rejected Jesus because pride blinded their interpretation.
When knowledge produces arrogance instead of humility, spiritual understanding is missing.
Do This
Study scripture with a teachable spirit and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Christ through the Word rather than feeding pride or debate.
- You Read The Bible But Your Character Remains Unchanged:
James 1:22 KJV – Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.
A person may know many verses and remain bitter, proud, immoral, dishonest, unforgiving, or spiritually careless. True revelation changes conduct.
Child of God, scripture was not meant only for information but for transformation. Light affects behavior. A man who genuinely understands God’s Word begins to reflect its nature gradually.
The deeper the revelation, the greater the responsibility to live differently.
Do This
Examine whether the scriptures you study are changing your attitude, speech, decisions, and relationships practically.
- You Interpret Everything Literally Without Spiritual Discernment:
1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV – The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God.
Some believers struggle to understand symbols, parables, prophetic language, spiritual patterns, and deeper meanings in scripture because they only approach the Bible naturally.
Child of God, scripture contains mysteries that require spiritual discernment. Jesus often spoke in parables because spiritual truths are deeper than surface reading.
Literal understanding is important, but revelation also uncovers spiritual principles hidden within the text.
Do This
Pray for discernment before studying scripture and compare passages carefully to understand deeper spiritual meaning.
- You Know Verses But Cannot Apply Them To Life:
Hosea 4:6 KJV – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Some believers know scripture academically but struggle with wisdom, discernment, relationships, spiritual warfare, emotional control, or decision-making practically.
Child of God, Revelation connects scripture to daily living. Wisdom is proven by application. Jesus not only taught truth, but He also demonstrated how truth transforms life.
Knowledge without application creates spiritual frustration because information alone cannot sustain maturity.
Do This
Practice applying scripture intentionally to your habits, struggles, decisions, and spiritual growth daily.
- You Depend On Human Intelligence More Than The Holy Spirit:
John 16:13 KJV – When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.
Some believers approach scripture only through logic, education, or intellectual ability while ignoring the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Child of God, scholarship is valuable, but spiritual understanding ultimately comes from God. Even educated men in scripture misunderstood divine truths until revelation came.
The Holy Spirit gives illumination, discernment, conviction, and understanding beyond human reasoning alone.
Do This
Pray before studying scripture and invite the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding and interpretation.
- Scripture Has Become Familiar But No Longer Convicts You:
Hebrews 4:12 KJV – For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.
One dangerous sign of spiritual dryness is becoming too familiar with scripture without experiencing conviction, awe, correction, or hunger anymore.
Child of God, revelation keeps scripture alive within the heart. A hardened spirit hears truth repeatedly without being moved toward repentance or growth.
The Word of God should still challenge, expose, strengthen, and awaken the believer.
Do This
Return to scripture with humility, hunger, and prayer. Ask God to restore sensitivity and fresh revelation from His Word.
Final Word
Many know verses, but few truly understand the spirit behind what they read. The Holy Spirit turns written words into living truth within the believer.
If this teaching gave you understanding, share it with another believer. Many people know scripture intellectually but are still hungry for spiritual understanding and revelation.
