Read Psalm 106:28 from your Bible
When someone is dedicated to some evil powers, he would notice the following problems:
i. UNTIMELY DEATH
When you come across a family where evil dedication is being practiced, you will discover that untimely death is common. Such families bury one person or the other every year.
Many who are dedicated to terrible idols have lost their lives prematurely. Several years ago a woman discovered that her husband always went out of the house between 4am – 7am daily.
One day, she decided to trail him and to her surprise, she discovered that he was walking towards the sea. She hid somewhere in the bush to watch what he was going to do. Surprisingly, a beautiful, light-skinned lady came out of the sea and talked with him.
This encounter lasted for some hours. Then the man’s wife went back home. She became frightened but kept mute. The man kept on going out at 4am and one day, he did not return home and his corpse was found at the beach. Those who are dedicated to evil idols are generally obedient to evil voices.
For example, someone who is dedicated to an idol and is studying overseas may suddenly hear a voice telling him to come back to his village. He would not be able to resist such an evil urge.
ii. HE WOULD HAVE DREAMS THAT BORDER ON BACKWARDNESS AND LIMITATION, RISING HIGH AND FALLING DEEP.
iii. HIS SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS STUNTED
No matter what efforts are made, spiritual growth will be minimal. When a person makes efforts towards spiritual growth, some powerful forces will complain bitterly, so he would remain stagnant spiritually.
iv. HIS LIFE ATTRACTS SATANIC ATTACKS
Whenever someone is dedicated to powerful idols his life would magnetise demonic attacks.
v. POVERTY
There are some terrible idols whose responsibility is to invoke poverty. The moment you are dedicated to that kind of idol, you become embarrassingly poor, no matter what you do.
vi. UNPARDONABLE ERRORS
Victims of evil dedication commit unpardonable errors or mistakes. This incident happened outside Nigeria. A 22 year-old man was jailed 45 years, for raping an 80-year-old woman. When he was asked what pushed him into the dastardly act; he just said: “I really don’t know, but something pushed me to do it.” Can you imagine that by the time the young man is out of jail, he would be 67 years old? He would have ended up wasting his life.
vii. SPIRITUAL CRASH
Those who are dedicated to evil altars crashland even when they attain great heights.
viii. ACUTE MARITAL PROBLEMS
If someone who is dedicated to an idol gets married without breaking the covenants, such a person would experience marital distress.
ix. EARLY WIDOWHOOD
Evil dedication leads to disruptive life; products of evil dedication go into all forms of degradation.
x. EVERY NAME THAT IS DEDICATED TO LOCAL IDOLS
If your name is dedicated to a particular location, your life will be dominated by the spirit of that location. For example, if your street or community is named after an idol, you will live under the domination of that idol. There are people who consider certain food items as taboos. Such people are under the control of idols.
Besides these 10 major signs, there are other minor signs. Many of us have underestimated the type of evil that is inherent in evil dedication. Many who participate in communal festivals are victims of evil dedication. Also, the annual visit to the village in December is a consequence of demonic bondage. Tribal marks, tattoos and other ritual marks are avenues for evil dedication.
Those who are marked in that manner, become properties of evil spirits. The incisions that are made on the head and other parts of the body form part of evil dedication. Many who avoid eating certain foods, are victims of evil dedication. If some marks were made on your body when you were very young some powers will exercise some authority over you.
However, it is important for you to know that, Jesus already delivered us from the power of evil dedication through His death, burial, and resurrection (Col. 1:13-14, 2:14-15).
So, legally, the believer now has authority to break and deliver himself from evil dedication.

Nevertheless, the mere fact that you are born again will not automatically deliver you from the power of evil dedication. You must recognize it, and destroy it by renunciation. Just as salvation is not complete until there is confession (Rom. 10:9-10), deliverance must be preceded by verbal pronunciation.
