Read Judges 6:11 – 32 from your Bible
The above passage highlights the evil effects of evil altars. You may ask: what are altars? Altars are indispensable places of worship. They are places where sacrifices are brought into contact with powers, deities and objects that are worshipped. The item being sacrificed and the agent who takes the sacrifice are linked together.
Originally, the altar was divinely instituted. Unfortunately, it has become polluted by the devil. Altars have a way of bringing a spiritual covering over the territory where they are situated. Altars determine the spirit that controls the land. Invariably, they determine the kind of people who reside in a particular place.
The altar is a place of sacrifice, it is a place of dedication. It is a place where evil and good covenants are made. It is a place of communion with spiritual entities whether good or bad. It can be either positive or negative. It is a place of spiritual exchange. It is a spiritual dinning table where spirits come to feed. It is a place of spiritual traffic of good or bad spirits.
Wherever an altar is in place, there will always be a traffic of spirits. If you are a good reader of the Bible, you would have discovered that many Bible characters built altars. These included Noah, Abraham, David, etc.
In the celebrated battle of Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, altars played a prominent role. Elijah was standing on one side and there were 450 prophets of Baal on the other side. Elijah declared; “The God that answereth by fire, let him be God.” The prophets of Baal cried the whole day, but nothing happened.
Then, it came to Elijah’s turn to prove that he serves the true God. The first step which Elijah took was to repair the altar of the Lord. By repairing the altar of the Lord, he had contact with God that answers by fire. Of course, the prophets of Baal had their own kind of altar in the groves. Elijah understood the mystery and the ministry of the altar. So, he repaired the altar of the Lord. The prophets of Baal also understood the mystery behind altars. They went ahead to destroy the altar of the Lord. It becomes clear, therefore, that the altar is a spiritual thief.
A thief may come against you in several ways. He may decide to come against you openly, or to come against you secretly. Let us look at the comparison between a known thief and the hidden method used by the altar. A thief may take advantage of your absence, but an altar will rob you in in your presence. A thief may take advantage of your carelessness, but an altar will rob you whether you are careless or not. A thief may utilize the weapon of deception to rob you, but an altar will both deceive you and steal openly from you. A thief may take advantage of your ignorance, while an altar will rob you in spite of your knowledge. A thief may take things from you by force while an altar will steal from you both openly and forcefully. Therefore, the terrible nature of wicked altars cannot be evaluated.
However, Jesus, delivered us from the power of evil and wicked altars through His death, burial, and resurrection.
Read Colossians 1:13-14, 2:14-15 from your Bible.
Nevertheless, I will be sharing with you deliverance prayers that will liberate you from foundational altars at the very end of the series of teaching on this subject.
In the next write up I will discuss the mandate of evil and wicked altars.
Shalom!
