THE PLACE OF FAVOUR

Success in life is a direct function of God’s favour. Outstanding favour is what we call outstanding success, hence favour is a fundamental requirement in the school of outstanding success.

The dictionary defines favour as an act of kindness. Something given as a token of love, affection or remembrance. That is why apostle Paul could boldly declare in 1 Corinthians 15:10: “By the grace of God I am what I am.”

He is here saying, “I’m an expression of God’s favour; God’s favour at work in me is what you see, not my abilities.”

Favour delivers to you those things that by right don’t belong to you, but which God brings your way, just to prove that you are in favour with Him. For example, Joseph had favour with his father. He was the only child Jacob made a coat of many colors for. His Father favoured him so much that he became the envy of his other brothers.

Every outstanding accomplishment in life is traceable to the flow of favour.

Read Psalm 44:1-3 from your Bible.

Our blessings and liftings in life are all functions of God’s favour. Jesus was an outstanding success while on earth here because He enjoyed God’s favour, which also brought about men’s favour.

Read Luke 2:40,52, Psalm 5:12 from your Bible.

Who is this man that God would bless and encompass with favour, so failure can’t gain access to where he is? The righteous! Who is righteous? “Be not deceived, he that DOETH righteousness is righteous.” (1 John 3:7).

The righteous man is he that doeth righteousness, not he that confesseth, thinketh or preacheth righteousness. Somehow the enemy has sought to water down the meaning of the word, “righteous” in the Charismatic circle. We agree with the finished work of righteousness, but don’t seem to lay much emphasis on the practice of righteousness. But then, there is no place in heaven for the unrighteous.

Also, our access to God’s favour, which causes one to be outstandingly successful on the earth is righteousness. No matter where you are, righteousness will bring you encounters with favour. When Joseph was in the house of Potiphar he found grace (favour) in his sight, causing Potiphar to entrust all that he had in Joseph’s care. Even in prison, Joseph continued to enjoy favour. Why? He walked in righteousness, which attracts favour (Genesis 39-40).

Daniel was another one who enjoyed favour.

Read Daniel 1:9 from your Bible.

Why was this so? He lived righteous and purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat or wine.

Jesus enjoyed so much favour with God and man because He lived righteous. He could boldly ask, “Which of you convinceth me of sin?” (John 8:46). Read 2 Corinthians 5:21 from your Bible.

Jesus knew no sin, hence favour knew no bounds in His life. Talking about him in prophecy, the Psalmist said: Read Psalm 45:4,7 from your Bible.

To further prove the righteousness root for favour, look at this: Read Proverbs 13:15 from your Bible.

The transgressor has no access to favour; so he lives in hardship all the days of his life. Hardship is not your portion, so live right before God and enjoy His favour and outstanding success on the earth. The Psalmist enjoyed God’s favour and so could declare, Read Psalm 30:5-7 from your Bible. He became outstanding because of the favour he enjoyed.

Life is colourless when you don’t enjoy God’s favour, as His favour is what gives colour to life.

Read Psalm 89:17 from your Bible.

So, your height in life is a function of the degree of God’s favour you enjoy, which in turn is a function of your walk in righteousness. There’s no price too great to pay in order to secure God’s favour, moreso as it’s the mystery behind outstanding success.

Read Proverbs 11:27, 12:2 from your Bible.

These Scriptures prove that it is you that determine your access to favour — ” A good man”, “He that diligently seeketh good.” Do you want favour from heaven? Then position yourself in His righteousness.

Shalom!
