Anxiety is also caused by fear – fear of failure, fear of sickness, fear of the unknown, fear of defeat and fear of death. Anything you fear automatically has power over you. Fear propelled Job to offer sacrifices every time his sons had a feast (Job 1:5).
Job’s action could have been mistaken for righteousness, but God knew it was motivated by fear. Job anticipated destruction, so he constantly sacrificed, not necessarily in worship of God, but to avert evil (Job 3:25-26).

Nothing should make you anxious. You must anticipate good always, not look forward to evil. If you expect calamity and doom, God can do nothing but take off the protective hedge around you and allow the enemy to penetrate, for, … thine expectation shall not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18).
