This involves two or more people coming together to pray concerning something in particular that they desire. It is raising your voice in unity with others regarding any subject of interest. Agreement means harmony, accordance and unison. The Bible states in Matthew 18:19:
..If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
This is what is done in Church or fellowship gatherings, where a prayer point is raised, and every worshipper is expected to pray in line with that point. There is power in praying together, especially when in one accord. It is written, Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour (Ecclesiastes 4:9).
Research shows that as powerful as the lion is, one lion cannot bring down a colony of rhinos. So, when you are confronted with a ‘rhino-like’ challenge, it is wisdom to team up with other believers who can stand with you in prayers. Man was not created in isolation; there is tremendous power on the prayer altar when we agree regarding anything.
God honours and responds to the power that emanates from the prayer of agreement. Genesis 11:6 states, And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
A woman once testified at the Living Faith Church – Faith Tabernacle, Nigeria, about her husband whom she had been believing God for, for his salvation. She decided to pray for him, in agreement with her sister-in-law each night, for the salvation of his soul. The result was that God heard them, and her husband was not only saved but also started following them to Church.
The prayer of agreement is one of the most powerful tools God has given to believers. It is a prayer that Jesus Himself guaranteed would bring results, for two have been ordained to put ten thousand to flight (Deuteronomy 32:30).
It brings victory in battle. In Exodus 17:12, the Israelites were confronted in battle by the Amalekites. Aaron and Hur held up the hands of Moses and as long as Moses’s hands were up, the Israelites prevailed in battle. Also, the Apostles were in agreement in the upper room and the Holy Ghost came upon them for empowerment (Acts 2). Unity is powerful, and a prayer of agreement is a powerful tool in fighting/winning spiritual battles.
