Gehazi was meant to succeed Elisha. But because of his greed, the man of God pronounced a curse upon him and his seed forever. This is very strong! His family will be lepers not because of what they did or did not do but as a result of a curse placed on their ancestor. Such is the case of many today.
What if several generations down the line knew nothing about their foundation and their ancestors’ encounter with the man of God? Does that stop what they are passing through? Does their ignorance or probable innocence exonerates them? The sad answer is, No!
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6).
Their ignorance will even make their situation worse. It is Satan’s strategy to deny people knowledge. Because, with knowledge comes power and freedom.
“You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32).
However, if they discover the trend of evil and decide to investigate their history or background, make decision to fight and break it, knowing that it is not the Will of God, their knowledge and faith will make them free.
Whenever you notice a trend in your lineage that is not an expression of God’s Will as stated in the scripture, what to do is not to throw our hands up in hopelessness, or give up. It is your responsibility to investigate your history or background, search the scripture to identify God’s Will for the reverse or true state, and then engage in fervent prayers and fasting to set yourself and destiny free.
