WHAT THE EFFECT OF ANXIETY DOES 1 – It Destroys Destiny

Saul was a man destined to be great. He had a bright future and great prospects in God. As a king, he could have secured the throne for his descendants forever. Yet, he was wiped away and his seed prohibited from ascending the throne of Israel by God Himself. God made it known that He had forsaken Saul.

What was the root cause of his downfall? Anxiety! Samuel’s instruction was clear: Read 1 Samuel 10:8 from your Bible.

What did Saul do?

Read 1 Samuel 13:9 from your Bible.

What excuse did Saul give, when Samuel arrived?

Read Verse 11-12 from your Bible.

What was the consequence?

Read Verse 13-14 from your Bible.

Saul’s reason for worry was genuine. The people were scattering, the Philistines were gathering and Samuel had not arrived. He must have reasoned within himself, “If the people scatter, who will fight this battle? If the Philistines arrive now, we are finished. If Samuel delays any long, God would not be on our side and we cannot have victory. ” The more he pondered on these, the more anxious he became. The moment anxiety set in, several things happened.

Saul forced himself, acted foolishly, and disobeyed the Lord.
