When the battle is spiritual, it means you are fighting with forces you cannot see. You may hear a voice calling your name, but can’t see anyone. It is a spiritual battle. When you are pressed down in your sleep or attacked in your dream, or you are always being pursued, or when you wake up, you see mysterious marks on your body, or you usually eat food or sexually harassed in the dream, these are spiritual battles. You can’t confront these powers physically.
When someone place a curse on you or cast a spell on you through divination or enchantment or by means of a charm, these are spiritual battles. You may know that something is wrong; but in most cases, you may not be able to trace its origin. These are spiritual arrows.
Numbers 23:23 says:
“Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!”
All of the things mentioned above are spiritual battles with intent to limit destinies, put one on the run, and ultimately, destroy. The use of sorcery, invocation and divination to send the messenger of Satan against somebody is a spiritual battle.
However, no matter how spiritual the battle, Ephesians 6:10-11 tells us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. And that we should put on the whole armour of God so that we maybe able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
To be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might is to be strong in the Word of God and be filled with the Holy Spirit always praying in the Spirit. To put on the whole armour of God is to wear the various aspects of the armour and not just a piece of the armour – this is done by declaring and walking in the truth of scripture, i.e. be a believer and a doer of the word of God.
Also, Philippians 2:10 tells us that the name of JESUS is more than able to give us victory in every spiritual conflict.
