- Your Heart is Being Broken and Softened Before God:
Psalm 51:17 KJV – The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Tears in prayer often mean your heart is yielding. Pride, hardness, and self-dependence are breaking. God does not work deeply with a hardened heart. When tears come, it is a sign that your inner man is softening and becoming responsive to Him. This is where true transformation begins.
Do This
Do not stop the moment. Stay there. Allow God to deal with your heart. Surrender fully and speak honestly to Him.
- The Holy Spirit is Interceding Through You:
Romans 8:26 KJV – Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
There are moments when words are not enough. Tears become part of the expression of intercession. The Holy Spirit begins to pray through your emotions, carrying burdens you cannot explain. This is deeper than normal prayer, it is a spiritual partnership.
Do This
Yield to the flow. Do not try to control it. Let the Spirit lead your prayer even if you do not fully understand what is happening.
- A Burden is Being Lifted From Your Spirit:
Psalm 34:18 KJV – The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Tears can signal release. Something heavy within you is being removed. Sometimes you carry burdens unconsciously, but in God’s presence, they begin to dissolve. The tears are not pain, they are cleansing. Child of God, God often empties you before He fills you.
Do This
Stay in His presence until peace replaces the heaviness. Do not rush out. Let the release complete its work.
- You Are Encountering God’s Presence Deeply:
Acts 10:44 KJV – While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
When God’s presence intensifies, the body responds. Tears are sometimes the physical reaction to a spiritual encounter. It is not sadness, it is an overwhelming awareness of God. Many cannot stand strong under His presence, so their emotions respond with tears..
Do This
Revere the moment. Worship deeply. Focus on God, not the feeling. Let the encounter shape your spirit.
- Hidden Wounds Are Being Healed:
Jeremiah 30:17 KJV – For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.
There are wounds you buried, pain you ignored, and experiences you never processed. In prayer, God touches those areas. Tears come as healing begins. It is not just spiritual, it is also emotional restoration. God heals the whole man, not just the spirit.
Do This
Do not suppress the tears. Talk to God about the pain. Allow Him to heal what you could not fix yourself.
- Your Spirit is Aligning With God’s Will:
Luke 22:42 KJV – Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Tears can come when your will is breaking and aligning with God’s will. It is not always comfortable to surrender. Sometimes obedience costs your desires. In that moment, tears express the transition from self to submission. Child of God, alignment is powerful but not always easy.
Do This
Agree with God fully. Even if it is hard, say yes. Let your tears become a seal of surrender.
- Spiritual Sensitivity is Increasing:
Hebrews 5:14 KJV – But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Frequent tears in God’s presence can mean your spirit is becoming more sensitive. You are no longer dull. You feel what God is doing. You respond quicker to His touch. This is growth. Many desire power, but sensitivity is what sustains it.
Do This
Guard your spiritual life. Stay consistent in prayer and the Word. Do not return to things that dull your sensitivity.
DEAR BELIEVER, YOUR TEARS ARE NOT A WASTE, THEY ARE A LANGUAGE. What many call emotion is often a mystery of the Spirit. When you understand this, you will no longer fight your tears, you will follow them into deeper encounters with God.
