Read 1 Samuel 15:22-23 from your Bible.
There is what is called willful disobedience. It attracts the curse of the Lord. The Bible says in James 4:17:
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
The first curse recorded in the Bible (Genesis 3:14-19), came as a result of disobedience; and God says, “I am the Lord I change not…” (Malachi 3:6). So disobedience will still attract the curse of the Lord anytime. That’s why He said in John 14:15:
“If you love me, keep my commandments.”
No one ever contends with God and prospers.
“Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker!…”
(Isaiah 45:9).
Now, God’s Word says, “He that doeth righteousness is righteous” (1 John 3:7). So when you don’t embrace the Word of holiness, you can’t escape the curse of God.
There are therefore now two levels. One – there is no hope for someone who is not born again at all; and two, anyone who is born again but is not abiding in the Vine will still suffer from the curse of God.
Practical righteousness therefore is your way out of the curse of God. That is, doing it the way He commands it will enable you walk free from the curses of God all the days of your life. For “…Who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?” (1 Peter 3:13).
Friend, doing it the way He says is the only way out!
shalom!
