1 Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
Again, as is the case with every other battles of life, this is God’s recommendation. We must FIGHT! The battle against sickness, like every other battle, is a battle of faith – “the good fight of faith.”
If we must become victorious against the forces threatening our lives and destinies with sickness and disease, we must first realize that it is a fight of faith. Irrespective of the other means we consult or the expertize we engage, if faith is missing, we might as well not fight it at all. We know that faith means standing by the word of God until what the word says comes to pass. Faith is also holding unto God’s word concerning every issue of life until the word of God prevails. If the battle is a fight of faith, and faith means operating by the word of God, it therefore means we have to fight with the weapons of God’s word. When the enemy brings sickness and death, we are enjoined to fight back or resist it by faith in God’s word. The word of God is our weapon of war (2 Cor. 10:3-5). It is our divine weapon. And that is what we have been given to make warfare.
Ephesians 6:17 says:
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
The word of God is an offensive weapon with which we contend with the enemy called “sickness.” The word of God is the sword of the Spirit. We must learn how to use this weapon so as to obtain victory and crush the enemy. But how do we use the word of God? I will discuss that in my next write up.
