Having familiar spirits, is to be personally identified with an evil power. That is why, in the Bible, involvement with familiar spirits is punishable by death.
Leviticus 20:27 says this much:
“A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.”
For the Lord to decide on this kind of punishment means it is a serious matter.
There are counterfeits of the Holy Spirit all over the place defiling so many people.
Let us take a look once again at the book of Leviticus 19:31:
“Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.”
The world of familiar spirits is a world of deception. Most of the time when we tell people to free themselves from such evil association, they at first refuse because they seem to enjoy it.
A person having familiar spirits may feel he is just having imaginative experiences. He may even think that it is the Holy Spirit, not knowing that something is wrong somewhere.
It is like that brother who was praying. As his prayer got to a level, he saw before him somebody in a white garment. The fellow raised up his right hand and asked the brother to stop praying, because it is written, “I will uphold you with my right hand of righteousness.”
The brother wanted to stop the prayer but when he looked carefully, he saw that the white garment had stains on it and that, instead of the man raising his right hand, he was actually raising his left hand.
The brother looked at the creature properly and shouted, “Fire” And the thing disappeared.
The brother would have thought he was seeing the Holy Spirit or an angel of the Living God.
If you are reading this and know of someone who died sometime ago and people were bent on knowing the cause of his death, and you gathered with them to find out the truth, you can be sure that familiar spirit must have been distributed to all of you present there.
However, familiar spirits can be cast out in the name of Jesus according to Mark 16:17. ( Read it from your Bible)
Nevertheless, to be able to achieve that, you have to give your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God so you maybe able to stand against the wiles of familiar spirits – Ephesians 6:10-11.
To be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might is to be strong in the Word and be filled with the Holy Spirit always. To put on the whole armour is to wear the various aspects of the armour.
Subsequently, I will be taking you through series of teaching on “war against familiar spirits” and at the very end of the teaching, I will be sharing two parts of deliverance prayers that will liberate you from the power of familiar spirits and dismantle them from the root.
Shalom!
